- Q: How do I submit a manuscript?
- A: First, you need to register as an Author on the JAMES website. To register, click on the "Register" link at the top of the home page. Once you are registered, click on the "For Authors" link on the right hand side bar. This will take you to your Author home page where you will see a link to Start a New Submission.
- Q: How do I submit a revised manuscript?
- A: The submitting Author can upload a revised manuscript by logging on to the JAMES website and selecting their "Author" role from the "User Home Page". Under "Active" Submissions, click the hyperlinked title of the manuscript, then go to the "Review" page for the submission. Under the "Editor Decision" section of the article review page, you can upload a revised manuscript. Click on the "Notify Editor" email icon to send an email to your Editor informing them a revised manuscript has been uploaded. Be sure to include your response to Reviewers' comments, either in the text or as an attachment, in your email to the Editor.
- Q: I completed the submission process, but did not upload my manuscript. How do I add a manuscript to my submission?
- A: The submitting Author can add a submission file to an active submission by logging on to the JAMES website and selecting their "Author" role from the "User Home Page". Under "Active" Submissions, click the hyperlinked title of the manuscript, then go to the "Review" page for the submission. Under the "Editor Decision" section of the article review page, you can upload your submission manuscript.
- Q: Is JAMES covered in any of the major A&I (Abstracting and Indexing) Services
- A: Yes, JAMES is covered in the Directory of Open Access Journals DOAJ, and coverage in Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts MGA is anticipated to be in place by the end of November, 2009.
- Q: Does Web of Science recognize JAMES?
- A: JAMES is currently being evaluated by Thomson Reuters for inclusion in Web of Science. We are making every effort to ensure that JAMES meets Thomson's rigorous criteria for journal coverage, and furthermore that all published content dating back to the journal's inception is covered. We recognize that beibg indexed in Web of Science is important to our authors. Because it can take in the neighborhood of a year or two to establish a credible journal, and to complete Thomson's journal evaluation process, we ask our authors to have patience, and a bit of faith, that we at JAMES are making every effort to produce a timely and high quality publication.
- Q: I am a Reviewer and would like to include a synopsis of my review to the discussion forum. Are there guidelines for Reviewers when posting all or part of their review to the public forum?
- A: Yes. As a general policy, we encourage reviewers to direct their discussion comments to the manuscript's scientific content. Specifically, we recommend they limit their comments to the general quality of the manuscript and refrain from including their recommendation for publication in their comments to the public forum. With this in mind, the Editorial Office reserves the right to edit or modify the reviewer's comments directed to the discussion forum in accordance with these policies.
